The "Nature" of Communication Arts:

Objective:
This workshop is about teaching reading and writing skills by using the outdoors.

Description:
Teachers can target a variety of the Common Core State Standards for communication arts by taking their students outdoors. This workshop will demonstrate different lessons that use the outdoors to help students grasp challenging concepts and skills for reading and writing. From different types of hikes (preposition hike, adjective hike, and personification hike) to using shadows to teach point of view in a novel, educators will walk away with engaging lessons that can easily be applied the next day.
